Tip 1- Sales people sell.  Signs just get you noticed.

Tip 2- Over half of all new retail sales are a result of impulse buys. People see, shop, and buy. If your outdoor advertising is ineffective, it will cost much more in lost sales than the entire cost of a good sign.

Tip 3- Make sure the colors are used in contrasting patterns. Green on blue is not readable, whereas black on white is extremely visible.

Tip 4- Your outdoor advertising must have visual impact. It must make your products or services, as well as your location, easy to remember.

Tip 5- If you want your sign to look good for an extended period of time (particularly outdoors or where the sign may be subject to wear and tear) you need to make sure your sign is made from materials that will not fade, chip, peel, delaminate, or crack.

Tip 6- Limiting your sign to a maximum of two styles is important. In almost all cases, more than 2 styles typically do nothing but make it hard to read or make it look unorganized and fragmented to your viewer.

Tip 7- A poorly made sign or shabby installation will send a negative message to your customer.

Tip 8- Beautiful is nice.  Artsy is nice.  But don't make a sign out of it!  You usually have less than ten seconds to get your message across so keep it short and sweet.

Tip 9- Remove the magnetic signs from your car at least every two weeks. Clean the car and the signs with a gentle cleaning solution and water.

Tip 10- Understand how posted speed limits and your sign design interact.
